In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, the groom committed suicide after an agreement was reached regarding the demand for a bike as a dowry. Police reached the spot after receiving information and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Based on the complaint of the deceased's father, the police have registered an FIR against the police post-in-charge, a constable, the bride's father, and a relative who arranged the marriage. 

According to the police, 21-year-old Anup Kumar was to get married on April 26. There was a disagreement between the two parties regarding a model of a bike as a dowry. The marriage was going to be canceled due to this. To resolve the matter, both the parties were called to the Dhanuhi police post on Saturday morning. After the agreement, the groom went home and allegedly committed suicide.

'FIR registered against 4 people including SHO'

On the complaint of the deceased's father, a case has been registered against police post-in-charge Ayodhya Singh, a constable, the bride's father, and a relative who arranged the marriage. Anup Kumar's family alleged that the outpost in charge and the police constable mentally tortured and beat him. There, the bride's father and another man threatened them to force them to compromise.

Additional Superintendent of Police said this in the matter

Additional Superintendent of Police Ramanand Prakash Kushwaha said on Tuesday that to resolve the dispute regarding a model of bike as dowry, the outpost in-charge had in chargeth the parties and made a compromise. Everyone at the police post agreed. But perhaps the groom did not want to get married for some reason, due to which he committed suicide after reaching home. According to the post-mortem, there is no injury mark on the body. The case is being investigated.
