Tumkuru: Strict action has been taken against a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Karnataka. The Deputy Superintendent of Police has been arrested and suspended in the case of alleged sexual harassment of a woman. Police gave this information on Friday.

What is the whole matter?

Actually, the allegation is that a Deputy Superintendent of Police allegedly sexually harassed a woman who had come to him with a complaint. Action has been taken against the Deputy Superintendent of Police in this case. After this, he has been arrested and suspended. 

Police said that the video of the incident went viral on social media. The police officer is 58 years old and has been identified as Ramachandrappa. He was posted as DSP in Madhugiri. In the alleged video, the senior police officer can be seen misbehaving and behaving inappropriately with the woman. 

Police say that this incident happened on Thursday. The woman had approached the officer in Tumkuru to complain about a land dispute. The woman alleges that she was taken to a room and abused and touched inappropriately. 

After this matter came to light, the police officer was suspended and also arrested.

What is sexual harassment?

Sexual harassment can take many forms. It includes many types of activities ranging from unwanted touching to rape. Touching a person inappropriately without his/her consent also comes under sexual harassment. In the past years, many cases of sexual harassment have come to light, however now people have started talking openly about it and filing complaints, the benefit of which is that those who commit these heinous crimes are getting punishment by the law.
