DDA Action on Temples: Action was being taken to demolish 40-year-old temples in Mayur Vihar Phase-2, which falls in Patparganj assembly constituency of East Delhi. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) took this action on the instructions of the High Court. This action was taken late night on Thursday (19 March), due to which the police force was also present there. However, the temples were not demolished, because Patparganj MLA Ravinder Singh Negi also reached the spot and played an important role in stopping this action.

Talking to news agency IANS, MLA Ravinder Singh Negi said that the High Court had given instructions to free the green belt from encroachment, under which notices were issued three to four times from 2015 to 2024. However, this time without any prior notice, the police force and DDA officials reached the spot at 3.00 pm and started the process of demolishing the temple.

'There is no need for notice to remove encroachment'
During this time, police team including Additional DCP, ACP, SHO also reached the spot. On getting information about the incident, MLA Ravinder Singh Negi reached the spot and talked to the administration. MLA Negi told that he asked the officials that no structure can be demolished without giving notice. The answer of the officials was that there is no need to give notice to remove encroachment from the green belt and they can directly take action for demolition.

CM called LG and stopped the bulldozer action.
MLA Negi said, "After this, I contacted Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and informed her about the whole matter. The Chief Minister took immediate cognizance of this and asked the Lieutenant Governor to stop this action. After this, the demolition process was stopped and the police and DDA officials returned from the spot."
