Actress Urvashi Rautela often remains in the news for her controversial statements. Now recently she made a comment about the temple, due to which she again had to face criticism.
People criticized Urvashi
Her recent remarks have sparked outrage among priests and residents around Badrinath in Uttarakhand. In fact, in a recent interview, Urvashi claimed that a temple has been built in her name in Bamani, located near the holy Badrinath Dham. Her statement was not liked by the local community.
What statement did the actress give
In an interview to Siddharth Kannan, Urvashi said, "There is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand. If one goes to Badrinath, there is an 'Urvashi Mandir' right next to it." She also said that devotees, including students of Delhi University, visit this temple, offer garlands to her photos and also call her 'Dam Damma Maai'. She stressed, "I am serious about this. It is true. There are news articles about this as well. You can read them."
The priest said it was wrong
However, his claim drew sharp reactions from religious figures and villagers. According to a report in India Today, former religious officer of Badrinath Dham and local priest Bhuwan Chandra Uniyal called the statement misleading and factually incorrect.
What is the real truth?
He clarified that the Urvashi temple has no connection with the actress but is an ancient place of worship believed to be dedicated to Goddess Urvashi, a divine figure in Hindu mythology, and a form of Goddess Sati in some legends. Uniyal said, 'The temple is part of our sacred traditions and is counted among the 108 Shakti Peethas.' He further demanded that strict action should be taken against the actress for trying to associate her identity with a revered religious place.
Urvashi has not yet reacted to this controversy. Talking about the work front, the actress was recently seen in a song of Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda's film Jaat.
