China spying US Officials The Biden government has exposed a large-scale Chinese cyber espionage racket operating in the country. It has been revealed in this expose that a Chinese company and a person were involved in it, who were allegedly carrying out hacking by targeting senior American officials.
Now both have been banned. These sanctions have been imposed at a time when Trump said that he had a 'very good' phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.
Democratic processes were being targeted
A senior US official told CNN that democratic processes were to be targeted through hacking. Attempts were being made to collect sensitive intelligence from the US network, on which the US government took action.
Ban on Chinese company, it was hacking Trump's phone
The Biden administration has imposed sanctions on a Chinese tech company in this case. This company was involved in widespread hacking of American telecommunications giants. According to a CNN report, hackers even targeted phone conversations of President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance and senior officials.
Ban on person involved in Treasury hack
The Treasury also banned a Shanghai man who was allegedly involved in the Treasury hack that was disclosed last month. A source familiar with the matter told CNN that the hackers targeted information related to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and her deputy Wally Adeyemo as part of an intelligence gathering effort.
Earlier, information had come to light that they had also hacked into the US government office which reviews foreign investments for national security risks.
