Chhath Puja, which lasts for about 4 days, is also called the great festival of folk faith. This festival is celebrated every year on the Shashthi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. In such a situation, this year this festival has started from Tuesday, 05 November. On the other hand, the next day i.e. Wednesday, 06 November (Chhath Puja Kharna 2024 Date) i.e. Kharna Puja is. During this, mainly Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya are worshiped. Nahai Khay and Kharna have special significance during Chhath festival. During this, the devotees take special care of their cleanliness and purity.

 

Importance of Kharna

Kharna also has special significance in Chhath festival (Chhath Puja 2024). On this day, women fasting first make kheer of jaggery and rice on a new earthen stove. After this, this kheer is offered to Chhathi Maiya and after that it is consumed as prasad. After this, the Nirjala fast which lasts from sunrise to sunset begins.

 

After sunset, food is offered to the Sun God and the fast is broken. During Kharna, the fasting person has to take special care of cleanliness and purity, otherwise the fast may be broken. There is a belief about Kharna that Chhathi Maiya enters the devotee's house.

 

How is Kharna done

  • In the evening, traditional food like saathi rice, jaggery and milk kheer is prepared on the earthen stove.
  • First of all, the offering is offered to Chhath Mata and after that it is consumed by the fasting person.
  • After this, 36 hours of waterless fast begins.
  • This fast is broken on the fourth day in the morning after offering arghya to the Sun.

 

 

Sunrise and sunset time (Chhath Puja Kharna Time)

The time of sunrise and sunset is considered very important in Chhath Puja, because on the day of Kharna, Nirjala fast is observed from sunrise to sunset. In such a situation, sunrise on the day of Kharna will be at 06:37 am. At the same time, the time of sunset will be 05:32 pm.
