Who is Chhathi Maiya
It is mentioned in Markandeya Purana that when Brahma Ji started creating the earth, he also created nature. After this, Mother Goddess Nature divided herself into six forms. The sixth part of which came to be known as Chhathi Maiya. Similarly, Chhathi Maiya is also known as the Manas Putri of Brahma Ji. On the sixth day of the child's birth, this form of the Goddess is worshipped, which gives the child good health and longevity.
Relation with Lord Shiva
According to religious beliefs, Devsena i.e. Chhathi Maiya was married to Lord Shankar's son Kartikeya. In this relation, she became the daughter-in-law of Lord Shiva. According to many religious beliefs, Chhathi Maiya is also said to be the sister of Sun God.
This story is found
There is a mythological story about the origin of Chhathi Maiya, according to which, King Priyamvad and his wife Malini had no children. Both of them were very sad about this. When they approached Sage Kashyap with the desire to have a child, the sage asked them to perform a yagya to get the happiness of a child. The king did exactly the same, due to which he soon got a son, but the child was dead.
King Priyamvad decided to give up his life in grief of losing his son, but at that moment the daughter Devasena appeared and told the king that she was born from the sixth part of the basic nature of creation, so she will be called Shasthi. O king, you worship me and inspire others to do the same. The king did the same and soon he got a son.
