Karachi: Recently, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an attack by the Israeli army. Massive protests were held in Karachi, Pakistan against the killing of Nasrallah. During this, clashes were also seen between protesters and police. Officials gave this information. Officials said that the protesters were going towards the US Consulate to protest against the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. During this, the police fired tear gas shells and lathicharged to disperse the protesters. 

March taken out by changing the route

Karachi Police said in a press release that the religious-political party Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) had called for a rally. Senior police officer Asad Raza said that the protesters tried to march towards the US Consulate on Mai Kolachi Road by deviating from the fixed route. Police officer Raza said, "When the police tried to stop them and reminded them of the route decided for the protest in a peaceful manner, some of them became violent and started pelting stones at the police. Some policemen were injured in the stone pelting by the protesters." 

Police fired tear gas shells

Eyewitnesses said that many protesters changed their route and when they moved towards the US Consulate from the 'Native Jetty Bridge', the police stopped them. Later, tear gas shells were fired and lathicharge was done to disperse them. Reporters covering the rally in Karachi said that the protesters also beat up some journalists and photographers and injured them. Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Office on Sunday condemned the attacks by Israel on civilians in West Asia.
