The cold wave continues in North India. While the minimum temperature in many parts of Kashmir has dropped several degrees below zero, the cold has increased in the country's capital Delhi as well. Along with the cold, Delhi-NCR is also witnessing the attack of dense fog and pollution, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for dense fog for the next 2 days. According to the department, there is a possibility of smog and dense fog at some places today, in such a situation the minimum temperature will be around 6 to 7 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the cold is likely to increase further at night, due to which people have been advised to stay indoors.

Now the temperature will fall rapidly

The effect of snowfall in the mountains is being seen in the plains where fog is spreading along with the falling temperature and people are resorting to bonfires to avoid the cold. The Meteorological Department has warned of severe cold wave in 4 districts of Himachal Pradesh till Saturday. Apart from this, an alert has been issued in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and many other states in view of severe cold.

Cold will shiver in North India

  1. According to IMD, many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab are going to experience severe cold along with dense fog for the next 2-3 days.
  2. Frost is also expected in some areas of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
  3. So, the temperature is likely to go below zero in many cities of Rajasthan too.
  4. In such a situation, visibility will reduce due to fog and cold will increase.
  5. On the other hand, IMD has predicted light rain in some parts of Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu.

Chance of snowfall in the mountains

If we talk about the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, here too the minimum temperature has fallen rapidly due to increasing cold. Cold wave continues in the lower hilly and plain areas of Himachal, in view of which the Meteorological Department has-

  • A warning has been issued for severe cold wave in 4 out of 12 districts of the state till Saturday
  • The department has issued an orange alert for severe cold wave in some places in the lower hilly areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Mandi districts.
  • Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for cold wave in Chamba and Kangra till Saturday.
  • Light snowfall is expected in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir
  • Cold wave is expected to prevail at many places in the valley for the next three days.

The harshness of winter is making people shiver in North and East India. Hence, after several alerts, people are being urged to exercise caution.
