New Delhi. Bomb threat to planes: Planes of various airlines have received more than 100 threats in the recent past. Amid the threats to blow up planes, the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT today reprimanded the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). All the threats were given through X only.
Rebuke to X
Joint Secretary Sanket S Bhondve held a virtual meeting today with representatives of airlines and social media platforms like X and Meta. The official said that now a situation has arisen as if X itself is promoting these crimes. He also questioned the representatives of these platforms about the steps taken to prevent the spread of such dangerous rumors.
30 flights received threats in a week
Let us tell you that in the last few days, more than 120 flights of Indian airlines have received bomb threats. Even yesterday, 30 flights operated by IndiGo, Vistara and Air India received such threats. The airlines said that they followed standard operating procedures, authorities were alerted and security protocols were followed.
We will not compromise on the safety of passengers: Ram Mohan
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the government was trying to deal with the problem without compromising passenger safety. He said strict action would be taken against those making such false threats, including putting them on the no-fly list.
Trying to change the law too
Let us tell you that the government is planning to tighten laws against illegal acts against civil aviation security. Currently, aviation security norms mainly cover crimes that occur during flight.
The minister said that we are trying to amend the law and the legal team has worked on it. He said that we need consultation with other ministries as well, we are definitely moving ahead to make changes in the Act as well.
When asked if there could be a conspiracy behind the spate of threats, the minister said a thorough investigation was underway and everything would come out.
