Big news has come out regarding self-proclaimed Baba Asaram. Asaram has got interim bail till 31st March. SC has granted interim bail to self-proclaimed Baba Asaram on medical grounds in the 2013 rape case.

What is the whole matter?

The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Asaram with conditions for his heart treatment. Let us tell you that Asaram is serving life sentence in the case of sexual misconduct with a student of his own Gurukul. He has got interim bail on medical grounds only. 

Asaram has been admitted to the Arogya Medical Center in Bhagat Ki Kothi from Jodhpur Central Jail, where he is undergoing treatment. Asaram's lawyer said that he is a heart patient and has already suffered a heart attack. The Supreme Court has also ordered the deployment of policemen at the time of granting bail on medical grounds.

The Supreme Court has directed that after being released on interim bail, Asaram will not try to tamper with the evidence and will not meet his followers.

Asaram has demanded suspension of sentence 

Earlier, Asaram had filed a petition seeking suspension of life sentence awarded to him by the trial court in the 2013 rape case. 

Was sentenced to life imprisonment in January 2023

In January 2023, the sessions court convicted Asaram in the 2013 rape case. The case was filed by a woman living in his ashram near Gandhinagar. The High Court had said that his arguments about the possible delay in disposing of his appeal, his age and medical condition were not relevant for granting relief. The court also considered earlier cases including the alleged murder of two boys at the Sabarmati Ashram and attacks on witnesses and relatives of the victims.
