New Delhi. BJP leader Amit Malviya on Monday took a dig at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his visit to Manipur. He accused the "childish minded" person of indulging in tragedy tourism. "The caste conflict in Manipur is a legacy of the Congress. For decades, civilians, police and army personnel were killed in the state when the Congress was in power," Malviya said in a post on Instagram.

Accused of Manipur violence

The BJP leader said, "300 people were killed in 1990. 1,100 people were killed in 1993. 400 people were killed in 1997. 95 people were killed in 2001. 140 people were killed in 2003. 105 people were killed in 2006. 200 people were killed in 2008. 220 people were killed in 2010 and 165 people were killed in 2012. Forget Rahul Gandhi who has failed for the third time, did any Congress leader including the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a Rajya Sabha member from Assam, visit the conflict-hit area? The childish intelligence is only busy in sick tragedy tourism."

BJP leader gave this advice to Rahul

Criticising Rahul Gandhi's visit to Manipur, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already told the country how the central and state governments have overcome the crisis, Rahul Gandhi is now only engaged in political tourism." Chugh further said, "Rahul Gandhi is deliberately trying to spread unrest in the region by doing cheap politics in this sensitive state. If he is so concerned about law and order in the country, he should have first visited Bengal and Tamil Nadu, where violence is happening a lot."

Chugh also criticised Congress leaders for trying to undermine the prime minister's Moscow visit. "While the prime minister was enhancing the country's international prestige, the Congress was only expressing displeasure and trying to harm India's international standing," he said.
