Ladli Bahna Yojana: These days there is a political uproar over the Ladli Bahna Yojana of Madhya Pradesh. Actually, before the 20th installment of the scheme comes, the names of 1.63 lakh women are to be removed from the scheme. The reason being given is that these women have crossed the age of 60 years.
At the same time, Congress alleges that the debt-ridden government is deliberately deleting the names of beneficiary women. Congress MLA Arif Masoom alleged that the government neither has money nor does CM Mohan Yadav have the strength to speak the truth. The Congress leader says that new names are not being added under this scheme while excuses are being found to delete old names.
CM Mohan Yadav had spoken about the financial burden.
A few days ago, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had accepted for the first time that the Ladli Behna Yojana is putting a burden on the government. Since then, Congress had started cornering the government regarding this scheme.
Congress warned of protests.
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari said that the government first took votes from farmers, then from youth and then from Ladli sisters and now they are cheating them. He said that the names of Ladli sisters above 60 years of age have to be removed and those above 18 years of age should not be added. Apart from this, Congress leader Hina Kanware said that if the Ladli Behna Yojana is tampered with, we will fight for the sisters on the streets.
According to the information, now only 1.26 crore women will be given Rs 1,250 under this scheme in January 2025. However, since the inception of this scheme, the number of beneficiary women has been declining. On June 10 , 2023
, the number of eligible women was 1.31 crore. In January 2024, the number of eligible women became close to 1.29 crore.
By December 2024, this number was 1.28 crore and then in January 2025, the number of eligible women decreased to 1.26 crore. However, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav targeted the Congress and said that we are helping women financially through many schemes. He said that only BJP can do this work, this is not in the power of Congress.
