Vinesh Phogat Join Congress: Reacting to women wrestler Vinesh Phogat joining Congress on Friday, former President of Wrestling Association of India and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh claimed that it was proved true that the movement of women wrestlers against him was sponsored by the Congress.

In his address at a smartphone distribution program in a private school in Dumriadih, Gonda, the former MP said, "When the female wrestlers had made allegations against me, I had said that this is a conspiracy of the Congress. Big leaders of Haryana, Deepender Hooda and Bhupendra Singh Hooda are conspiring against us."

He said, "What I said on the first day, I stand by it even today and today the whole country is saying the same thing. Now I don't need to say much about this." Singh said, "I will not say much on this issue, otherwise this matter will reach Haryana immediately. At this time the whole country is waiting for Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh to say something on this issue."

Before the Haryana assembly elections, Phogat resigned from the Indian Railways job citing personal reasons and joined the Congress on Friday. Apart from Phogat, former Olympian Bajrang Punia also joined the Congress. Congress has shared a photo of Rahul Gandhi with Phogat and Punia on its official 'X' handle.

After joining the Congress at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Delhi, Phogat said, "In bad times, we come to know who is our own. When we were being dragged on the streets, all the opposition parties except the BJP supported us."

There was a conspiracy against me in 1996 too - Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Phogat had accused former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment. Singh, who was the president of the Wrestling Association of India, said, "There was a conspiracy against me in 1996 as well. At that time my wife Ketki Singh became an MP. I was in Tihar Jail those days as part of a conspiracy. After this, a conspiracy was also hatched against me in 2023 and my younger son Karan Bhushan Singh became an MP in my place."

Ticket was given to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's son

In 1996, the former MP was arrested under TADA law in a criminal case in Mumbai and was then lodged in Tihar Jail. In his place, BJP had fielded his wife Ketki Singh from Gonda in the Lok Sabha elections and she was elected. This time, after allegations were made by women wrestlers in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not give Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh a ticket from Kaiserganj and made his son Karan Bhushan Singh the candidate.

Heroines also take selfies- Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Singh claimed, "Before this incident, no one would take selfies with me. Now after this incident, heroes also take selfies, heroines also take selfies, even saints and sages are taking selfies." Singh became emotional on the stage during his address.
