The demand for water increases a lot in summer. In such a situation, people who have to stay outside for a long time often buy water from outside and drink it. Most people consider it safe and pure water. But is it really beneficial for health? The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has put bottled water in the category of "high-risk food". This step has been taken with the intention of improving the quality and safety standards of these packaged bottles for the customers. This means that now more monitoring and strict rules will be necessary on this.

Why is bottled water considered high-risk?

According to FSSAI, many times bottled water is sold in the market without checking its quality. Apart from this, special attention is not paid to cleanliness during their packaging. In such a situation, there is a possibility of harmful bacteria and chemicals being found in it. Many companies do not follow the purification process as per the set standards, due to which this water can be dangerous for health.

These particles harm health

Let us tell you that not only bacteria but also nanoplastics (microscopic particles) are found in water bottles available outside. A research has revealed that one liter of packaged water can contain about 2,40,000 plastic particles. These particles are so small that they easily enter the body. They slowly cause serious damage to our health.

The risk of these diseases increases

After nanoplastic enters the body, the risk of serious diseases like hormonal imbalance, kidney and liver problems, stomach problems and cancer increases. This means that the water we are drinking in the name of freshness and hygiene is seriously harming our health.

How to drink pure water?

  • Drink filtered water. If tap water is safe, filter it.
  • Use only steel or glass bottles.
  • If you are buying bottled water from outside, then definitely pay attention to its quality. Also pay attention to the brand.
