Mumbai Desk:These days actor Arbaaz Khan is focusing more on filmmaking by staying behind the camera. After the film 'Banda Singh Chaudhary', four films are lined up under his production. Deepesh Pandey has talked to Arbaaz Khan about filmmaking strategies and other issues.
As a producer, what kind of projects do you consider right to associate your name with?
First of all, the story should touch your heart for some reason. After listening to it, you should feel that whatever hard work, time and money is required for this film, I am ready for it. Although all producers invest money in films, but I invest in those films about which I feel that whether the money comes back or not, but the story must reach the people. When I join as a producer, does the mind say that I should also do some acting in it?
If there is a role suitable for me, I definitely think of myself in it. Even in the two films I made earlier as a producer ('Patna Shukla' and 'Dabangg 3'), I was not my first choice for acting. Yes, I always keep my option that if no one does it and that role is also for me, then I will do it. Luckily I have always got the actors I need. If the story and character have to be presented to the people in the right way, then casting an actor with the right performance and image is necessary.
Your role in 'Tension 2' was ended very quickly, did you agree with that?
In the first season, I worked for the entire show. To some extent, it was okay to remove this character. If you have committed to a show for three-four seasons and there is a long gap between them, you get stuck. I had no problem with the fact that I was in the show for only one season. For me, the strength is more important than the length of the role.
After 'Dabangg 2', you are also planning another film as a director, what happened to that?
After this, I have given the green signal to two more films under my production. Work is going on on two other films. Perhaps I will act in one of them. The director of one has been selected, the director of the other is yet to be selected. Not at the moment, but perhaps I will direct a film in the future.
The story of 'Hello Brother' was left at such a point that its sequel could be made, is there any such possibility?
' Hello Brother ' and 'Partner' are some of our films which can have a sequel. In today's era, 'Partner 2' will be a very interesting film. The sequel of 'Hello Brother' can be a very entertaining film for us.
As an actor, you seem to be less active these days, what is the reason for this?
At this stage of my life, it is important for me to do films that will take my career forward. Now, from being an actor, I have become a producer, a director and also host a chat show (The Invincible). I have a lot of work to do. For acting, I am waiting for a good character and story, then I will be a part of it.
