Donald Trump has been appointing new people in his cabinet since becoming the President. Meanwhile, he has now named Jamieson Greer as his trade envoy. Jamieson Greer has played an important role in advancing the US President's economic agenda.
Describing him, Trump said, Jamieson played a key role in imposing tariffs on China and others to end bad governance during my first term. Trump also cited Greer's experience in helping to advance trade agreements between the United States, Mexico and Canada. Greer was most recently at the law firm King & Spalding.
Tariff was imposed on China
During Trump's first term from 2017 to 2021, the United States imposed tariffs on billions of dollars' worth of imports – particularly from China but also America's allies.
The Trump administration imposed duties on nearly $300 billion worth of Chinese goods as Washington and Beijing engaged in an escalating tariff war. Lighthizer emerged as America's strong man in trade talks at the time as he pressed for changes to Beijing's economic policies.
Another change in the Trump administration
Earlier, news came that the newly elected US President Donald Trump has shown the way out to the LGBTQIA+ community in America. He is reportedly planning an executive order under which all transgender members will be removed from the US military. According to the report, transgenders will be medically discharged, which means they will be "ineligible" to serve.
The 78-year-old leader had imposed a similar order during his first term as US President. He had barred transgender people from joining the armed forces but allowed those who were already doing their jobs. Now, according to reports, this time all those transgenders who are currently in service will also be removed.
