Amid the decrease in violence in Manipur, the government has decided to start inter-district bus service. This bus service will start from the capital Imphal to the hill districts on Wednesday. This is the second attempt to restore public transport system amid violence in the last 19 months. This bus service will be started with police arrangements. The government appealed to the people for cooperation.

 

Manipur Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi said in an order that the state government reviewed the availability of security forces, response system and law and order situation in the state with inputs from various agencies. It has been decided to restore public transport with adequate security deployment.

 

The government warned the miscreants

Bus service will be started from Wednesday from Imphal to Senapati and via Bishnupur to Kangpokpi and from Imphal to Churachandpur. Let us tell you that there is a Meitei population in Imphal valley, Kuki in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur and Naga majority population in Senapati.

 

The government has also talked about taking strict action against miscreants who obstruct public transport. Let us tell you that in December last year also, the Manipur government had tried to start a bus service. But later this service had to be stopped.

 

 

Internet service suspended for two more days in nine districts

Mobile internet services will remain suspended for two more days in nine districts of Manipur in view of ethnic violence. According to a Home Department official, mobile internet services have been suspended till 5:15 pm on December 5. Except for one person missing from Kangpokpi district on November 25, no major incident has been reported in the nine districts since November 18.

 

The official said that the suspension of mobile internet and data services has been extended for two more days to prevent any untoward incident. The order will be applicable in Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Jiribam and Pherzawl districts.

 

 

Internet service was suspended after the protest

Let us tell you that after the bodies of three missing children and three women were found in Jiribam district on 15 and 16 November, there were massive protests in all the districts of the valley including Imphal East and Imphal West. The mob of people targeted the houses and bungalows of ministers, MLAs and political leaders. Only after this, Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi ordered the suspension of mobile internet in these districts. Since then, the mobile internet suspension is being extended from time to time for the last 18 days.

 

All schools opened, curfew relaxed

Regular classes in all educational institutions, including schools and universities, resumed on November 29 after a two-week shutdown in six districts of Manipur. Curfew was also relaxed in the six violence-affected districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching and Jiribam.
