The central government has increased the monthly nutrition assistance under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana for TB patients from the existing Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. This assistance amount will be given to all TB patients during the treatment period.
Health Minister JP Nadda on Monday said that an additional allocation of Rs 1,040 crore has been approved for the Nutrition Support Scheme for TB patients. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is determined and committed to become a TB free country.
Nutrition plays an important role in treatment
He said that since nutrition plays an important role in the treatment of the disease, a historic decision has been taken to strengthen TB patients. Under this, the monthly assistance amount for nutrition has been doubled. Now all the household contacts of TB patients will be covered under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. They will be given social support.
