Lucknow. After waiving the road tax on hybrid vehicles, the Yogi government of UP has now extended the subsidy period on the purchase of electric vehicles. The government will now provide subsidy till October 2027 on the purchase of electric two-wheelers of Rs 5,000, four-wheelers of Rs 1 lakh and other vehicles.
The Yogi Adityanath government had launched an incentive scheme to promote electric vehicles. Subsidy has been available under the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022. The government implemented the scheme from 14 October 2022 to 13 October 2023. During that period, the subsidy was sent to the accounts of those who bought electric vehicles after taking applications from them. This process is still going on.
Government issued notification
There has been confusion regarding subsidy after 13 October 2023. Now the government has issued a notification in this regard. In that too, subsidy of Rs 5,000 on two-wheelers and Rs 1 lakh on four-wheelers will continue to be available till October 2027.
Order issued to give subsidy to electric vehicles till 2027
There is a provision of Rs 100 crore for two-wheelers. A discount of Rs 1 lakh on four-wheelers has been approved for 25 thousand vehicles. Those who buy a car will be given discount on only one vehicle. Transport Commissioner Chandrabhushan Singh said that an order has been issued to give subsidy to electric vehicles till 2027.
