New Delhi. More than 200 former MPs will have to vacate their government accommodation located in Lutyens Delhi. These former MPs have not yet vacated their bungalows. According to sources in the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, notices have been issued to these MPs under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act. According to the rules, former MPs have to vacate their government bungalows within a month of the dissolution of the previous Lok Sabha. The process of issuing notices to other former MPs is also underway.
So what will be the eviction action?
If former MPs do not vacate government accommodation, teams of officers will be sent to vacate them forcefully. Let us tell you that the Lok Sabha Secretariat provides accommodation to MPs. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) allots bungalows to Union ministers in Lutyens Delhi. If former ministers and former MPs do not vacate government bungalows within the stipulated time period, eviction action is taken against them.
83 Lodhi Estate bungalow allotted to Manohar Lal
According to sources, no eviction notice has been issued to any former Union Minister for staying longer than the stipulated time. Meanwhile, the news is that Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal has been allotted 83 Lodhi Estate bungalow. Earlier this bungalow was allotted to a former Central Information Commissioner.
