The deceased used to catch fish for his livelihood

Police officials said the deceased's name was Narendra who used to catch fish for a living. A few months ago, he was not able to catch fish due to adverse weather conditions and to overcome this, he decided to take a loan of Rs 2,000 from an instant loan app. Though he had paid his principal amount, he was harassed by the people of the loan company, who wanted him to pay a huge amount as interest.

People from the loan company blackmailed him by sharing nude photos of his wife

When he said he could not pay, the company men allegedly harassed and abused him. They also blackmailed him and his wife, whom he married on October 20, by morphing a nude photo and sharing it with their friends on WhatsApp.

Officials said that Narendra had difficulty in telling anyone about the harassment and this led to depression. Unable to bear the harassment and trauma any more, Narendra hanged himself on Saturday. His family has complained to the Police Commissioner and the District Collector. The police are investigating the case.
