
An Indigo Airlines flight from Mumbai to Varanasi had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Airport in Maharashtra on Sunday night. The reason given was that as soon as the flight took off, an 89-year-old female passenger's health deteriorated mid-way. After landing, the medical team immediately arrived for a checkup but by then the woman had died.
An emergency landing had to be made at 10 pm
According to IndiGo, Sushila Devi, a resident of Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, boarded the flight from Mumbai to Varanasi. As soon as the flight took off, Sushila's health started deteriorating, due to which the flight had to make an emergency landing at Chikalthana Airport around 10 pm.
As soon as the flight landed, the medical team quickly arrived for checkup and it was found that Sushila Devi had already died. After this, before the departure of the flight, the MIDC CIDCO police station completed the necessary formalities, then the flight left for Varanasi.
The body was transferred to a government hospital
The airline further said that the police transferred the body of the passenger to a government medical college in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. There was chaos in the flight for some time after the incident. IndiGo has expressed its condolences to the victim's family on this tragic incident.
