Chhattisgarh News: A major incident has come to light in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. An eight-year-old girl died after allegedly eating poisonous food in a government-aided residential school here. 34 other children also fell ill after eating the food. Officials gave information on Tuesday. Collector Sambit Mishra said that some students of Mata Rukmani Residential School in Dhanora village had complained of uneasiness and vomiting on Sunday night.
The children were taken to the local hospital on Monday morning. The collector said that later 35 sick students were sent to Bijapur District Hospital. Symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea were confirmed in all the students. Mishra said that later the condition of two students deteriorated. Both were sent to Bastar headquarters Jagdalpur for better treatment. He said that one of the two students, Shivani Telam, a class III student, died while being shifted to Jagdalpur on Monday night. Mishra said that the exact cause of the disease is not yet known.

Orders have been given to investigate the matter. Chief Medical and Health Officer (Dr. BR Pujari) said that prima facie the cause of the disease seems to be food poisoning. However, investigation is being done to find out the exact cause. According to the CMHO, the condition of other sick children is said to be out of danger. Another officer said that according to preliminary information, about 88 children study in the government-aided institution.
They had eaten paneer for dinner on Sunday. Earlier in the day, they had eaten kheer and puri. Meanwhile, the reaction of the family members of the deceased girl has come to the fore. They have held the superintendent of the residential school responsible for the incident. The family has demanded action against the culprits.
