Hyderabad: 140 people were detained in a police raid at a pub in Hyderabad, Telangana. 40 women are also among those arrested from this pub located in Banjara Hills. It is said that the people arrested were involved in illegal activities. It is said that the police raided the TOS pub on Sunday after receiving intelligence information. After this, the pub was sealed. A case has been registered against 20 people, half of whom are women.

Police said that cases have been registered against the accused under various sections. Those who have been booked include the pub owner and the DJ operator. According to a report, the raid was conducted mainly due to complaints of indecent dancing in the pub.

The complaint was that the pub owners had hired women from different states to seduce men through obscene dance and increase the profits of the pub. The report also said that before the police operation, the pub was put under surveillance for illegal activities.

100 men and 40 women were detained

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Venkat Ramana as saying, "Last night, we raided Road Number Three and detained 100 men and 40 women for indulging in illegal activities at the pub. We sealed the pub. Cases have been registered under various sections. Those booked include pub owner, border guard, DJ operator and others."

According to media reports, the raid was conducted based on reports of inappropriate dance performances. According to a Hindustan Times report, the pub had allegedly hired women from different states to perform obscene dances with the aim of attracting male customers and increasing profits. The report also states that the police had kept the pub under surveillance before the raid to confirm illegal activities.

Police raid five famous pubs across Hyderabad

The action comes after a similar crackdown last month when police raided five famous pubs across Hyderabad. That operation was led by excise enforcement chief VB Kamalasan Reddy, the report said. Pubs such as the Koram Club in Sherlingampally and Babylon in Jubilee Hills were among those targeted in the first raid.
