News Topical, Digital Desk : The Election Commission has released the final voter list for Gujarat. After a three-and-a-half-month-long Special Correction Drive (SIR), the state now has a total of 44 million voters.

The Chief Electoral Officer's office stated that compared to the draft list released on December 19th, 560,000 new names have been added, while 6.8 million voters have been deleted for various reasons. Of these, the largest number, approximately 4 million, have permanently relocated. The draft list had approximately 7.4 million names deleted, but after revisions, this number has now been reduced to 6.8 million.

Gujarat's Chief Electoral Officer, Harit Shukla, stated that 50,963 BLOs in the state conducted a door-to-door survey for three months to thoroughly revise the voter list. A draft voter list was prepared in December 2025, and the names of 7.373 million voters were deleted. However, after revisions, this number has now dropped to 6.8 million in the final voter list.

Ahmedabad district has the highest number of voters, 49.13 lakh, out of the state's 4.40 crore voters, with 15632 new voters added in the city. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's assembly constituency, Ghatlodia, saw the highest number of new voters, with 17984 new voters added, while Daskroi saw 12931 and Chaurasi saw 10914 new voters added to the voter list.

If your name is missing from the voter list, you must complete Form 6, and if you want to correct an error, you must complete Form 8. As in Bihar and other states, the major opposition parties, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, have raised questions about the thorough revision of the voter list in Gujarat.

He says the names of voters whose names have been deleted should be made public. Congress leader Amit Chavda says the Commission should provide the identities and list of those whose names have been deleted.
