Pithoragarh Landslide: 46 passengers from Delhi, Punjab and Tamil Nadu, who were stranded due to landslide on Adi Kailash Yatra route, were rescued safely by helicopter on Sunday. Due to heavy rains and landslides, these passengers were stranded at various places, who were rescued and taken to safe places with the help of Disaster Management Department. On the successful conduct of the rescue operation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the District Officer (DM), Superintendent of Police (SSP), NDRF, SSB, and Civil Aviation team of Pithoragarh.

Chief Minister Dhami said that this entire operation was conducted on his instructions, and he himself monitored the operation. He said that the safety of the passengers is the top priority of the government and the state government is committed to ensure that passengers coming from the country and abroad can travel in a safe environment. During the rescue operation, a plan has been made to take the passengers stranded in Narayan Ashram to safe places by helicopter on Monday.

CM Dhami's instructions and administration's action
On Sunday, 46 passengers were successfully rescued, who were stranded after the route was blocked following heavy rains and landslides on September 13. According to the State Emergency Operations Center, one of the passengers, Swadesh Nand Mahal, died due to ill health. The rest of the passengers have been evacuated safely and their health is being checked.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the work of opening the blocked routes in various areas of the state is being done at a fast pace. He has directed the concerned departments to open the blocked routes soon so that the passengers do not face any kind of trouble. More than 60 blocked routes have been opened in the last 24 hours, improving the condition of travel routes in the state.

Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that passengers were stranded at various places on the Adi Kailash Yatra route due to landslides. As soon as the district administration got information about this, a rescue operation was planned. On Sunday, passengers stranded at many places were evacuated safely. In this operation, teams of NDRF, SSB, and Civil Aviation worked in a coordinated manner.

Disaster Management Review Meeting
Apart from this, an important meeting will be held on Monday under the chairmanship of Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, which will include officers in charge of all the districts, Executive Engineers of Public Works Department and District Disaster Management Officers. In this meeting, the opening of blocked routes of the state and the current status of disaster management will be reviewed.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the safety of passengers is the priority of the government and the government is fully committed to providing a safe environment for the passengers traveling in the state. He said that the readiness of the administration to take swift action in times of disaster and to evacuate the passengers safely is commendable.
