Today, in the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a holy dip in Sangam along with the Council of Ministers and performed Puja-Paath on the Sangam Ghat. After taking major decisions in the cabinet meeting, CM Yogi reached the Sangam Ghat with 54 ministers and took a holy dip. At the same time, major decisions were also taken in the Yogi Cabinet meeting in Maha Kumbh. The biggest decision among these is the approval of the extension of Ganga Expressway. It will be connected to two major expressways of UP, Purvanchal Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway. This will provide high-speed network to all the districts of the state.
It can be increased from 6 lanes to 8 lanes.
The extension of Ganga Expressway has been approved in the meeting of Yogi Cabinet. It will connect to Purvanchal Expressway from Prayagraj to Mirzapur-Bhadohi-Varanasi-Chandauli-Ghazipur. Initially, it is being built in 6 lanes but now this expressway can be expanded to 8 lanes if needed. Apart from this, Prayagraj will be connected to Chitrakoot. In this regard, the UP Cabinet has given the green signal to the proposal to connect Ganga Expressway to Bundelkhand Expressway. This will further improve road connectivity.
New route from Western UP and NCR to Bihar
The Ganga Expressway being built from Meerut to Prayagraj will now connect to the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur via Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi and Chandauli. With its construction, a new route will also be available from Western UP and NCR to Bihar. A large area of Gazipur is connected to Bihar. Under the proposal, the Ganga Expressway Extension will be built from Prayagraj to Ghazipur via Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli. The Purvanchal Expressway from Lucknow has also come in Ghazipur itself. In such a situation, the Ganga Expressway will connect to the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur. Along with this, Varanasi to Chandauli and Chandauli to Sonbhadra will be connected. This expressway will be known as Prayagraj-Vindhya-Kashi Expressway.
Construction of the first phase between Meerut and Prayagraj
In the first phase, the Ganga Expressway is being constructed between Meerut and Prayagraj, which is about 594 km long. After the construction of the expressway, the journey from Meerut to Prayagraj can be completed in 6 hours. The Ganga Expressway will start from Meerut and will end in Prayagraj after passing through Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh. It will pass through a total of 518 villages here.
After the construction of the second phase, it will become the largest expressway
In the second phase, it will be connected to 5 more districts including Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi and Ghazipur, Ballia. The second phase of Ganga Expressway will be 350 km. After construction in the second phase, it will become the largest expressway.
At the same time, let us tell you that the work of the first phase of Ganga Expressway is in its final stage. Interchanging and overbridge work is going on in many districts of the route which is in its final stage. Earlier, there were preparations to start Ganga Expressway before Maha Kumbh.
