
Two fugitive Indians facing Interpol's red notice have been arrested on Wednesday. In fact, two fugitives wanted in different cases in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat were arrested after returning from America and Thailand. Let us tell you that for this, a campaign is being run by the CBI. Giving information, officials said that Janarthanan Sundaram, accused of embezzling more than Rs 87 crore of investors' money through Ponzi scheme, was brought to India from Bangkok. Tamil Nadu Police detained him at Kolkata airport.
Two fugitive Indians were arrested
He was wanted by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Tamil Nadu police for offences of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, default in repayment of deposits/interest and offences under the Irregular Deposit Schemes Prohibition Act, 2019. In the second operation, the CBI Global Operations Centre worked closely with Gujarat police and immigration authorities at Ahmedabad airport to secure the return of Virendrabhai Manibhai Patel, wanted for 20 years in a case of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy. Patel, a director of Charotar Nagrik Sahakari Bank, Anand, was wanted by Gujarat police in a Rs 77 crore fraud case registered in 2002.

A CBI spokesperson said, "On the request of Tamil Nadu Police, CBI got a red notice issued against him from Interpol on June 21, 2023." The agency said that Sundaram, who traveled to Bangkok on January 28, 2025, was denied entry on the basis of the red notice. Let us tell you that there are many other fugitives of India who are hiding abroad, including big names like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Sushil Modi, for whom efforts are constantly being made by the Government of India to bring them to India. However, till now there has been no success in bringing them to India.
