News Topical, Digital Desk : The new voter list prepared under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, which was being opposed by opposition parties across the country, will be released on Tuesday.

The Election Commission has completed its preparations for this. It has also indicated that 1.4 million new voters may be added to the new voter list. The final list is expected to contain the names of 73 million voters.

Names of 65 lakh people were removed

Before the SIR, there were 78.9 million voters. The names of 6.5 million people were removed from the list. These included over 2.2 million deceased voters, nearly 3.5 million permanently displaced voters, and over 700,000 people who had registered their names from two places. The Commission identified and removed all these names from the voter list during the first phase of the SIR.

Any voter can search his/her name

According to senior officials with the commission, the new Bihar voter list will be released in PDF format to all political parties in the state upon its release. It will also be made available online, allowing voters to search their names on the list. This list will also be available with the District Election Officer (DEO).

What to do if there is an objection?

According to the Commission, if anyone still has any objections to the voter list, they can file them with the District Election Officer. If they are still not satisfied, they can also challenge it with the Chief Electoral Officer of the state. The new voter list claims to include the names of approximately 73 million voters.
