Donald Trump will take office as the 47th President of the United States on Monday. He will be seen in action as soon as he takes office. He is going to sign more than 100 executive orders soon after entering the White House.

These will be waiting for him on the Oval Office desk, which his team has prepared for the start of his second term. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent the Indian government at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday. The main purpose of executive orders is to fulfill election promises.

Orders will be based on 5 issues

Stephen Miller, one of Trump's closest aides, said it would mainly include five topics: sealing the southern border, mass deportation, banning transgender people from women's sports, lifting restrictions on energy exploration and improving government efficiency.

The executive orders are expected to pardon his supporters who were arrested for their role in the January 6 Capitol Hill attack four years ago.

Trump can overturn Biden's orders

Biden is also expected to roll back some of Trump's executive orders and actions. Prominent among these are the Paris Climate Agreement, lifting the ban on fossil fuel production. Biden issued nine executive orders on his first day. Six of these included reversing Trump's decisions.

Trump will return with more experience

Donald Trump will take oath for the second time. This time he has more experience than his previous term. The team is also stronger than the previous term. Trump has given place to many tech giants in his team. Among them, Elon Musk's name is prominent.

His party Republican is strong in both houses. This is the reason why Trump is ready to take aggressive decisions from day one. In 2017, Trump himself used to say that he has no political experience. But now the scenario has changed.

What are executive orders?

In an interview with NBC News, Trump said he plans to sign a record number of executive actions on his first day. An executive order is a unilateral order issued by the president that has the same power as a law. Unlike laws, executive orders do not require congressional approval. Congress cannot overturn them, but they can be challenged in court.

Thousands of people protested in Washington DC

Thousands of people gathered in Washington DC to protest against Donald Trump's policies ahead of his swearing in. A coalition of non-profit organisations, including Sakhi for South Asian Survivors, held a protest against Trump's policies under the banner of the People's March.

The protesters carried anti-Trump posters and banners. The protesters raised slogans against Trump and some of his close supporters, including Tesla owner Elon Musk. The same group had also protested in January 2017, when Trump first came to power.
