Hyderabad. Telangana's Revanth Reddy government has banned the manufacture and sale of tobacco and nicotine-containing gutkha and pan masala in the state. The government has said in an order that the sale, storage, distribution of tobacco products will be banned for one year. This ban will be effective from May 24, 2024.

The Telangana government has said that this order has been taken keeping in mind public health. The state's Food Safety Commissioner has issued a notification regarding this.

Restrictions imposed in the interest of public health

The notification said, "In the interest of public health, the Telangana government hereby prohibits the manufacture, storage, distribution, transport and sale of gutkha and pan masala. This ban will be in force throughout Telangana for a period of one year with effect from May 24, 2024."

Consuming pan masala causes oral cancer

Let us tell you that consuming gutkha and pan masala increases the risk of mouth cancer, submucous fibrosis and other health problems.
