Henoi: Typhoon Yagi has wreaked havoc in Vietnam. 59 people have been killed and missing due to Typhoon Yagi and the resulting landslides and floods in the northern region of Vietnam.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has given this information. 247 people are reported to be injured in the natural disasters, including 157 from Quang Ninh province and 40 from Hai Phong city. Also, 25 unmanned vessels sank, mostly fishing boats. More than 113,000 hectares of rice and more than 22,000 hectares of other crops were damaged. 1,500 aquaculture cages were damaged. More than 190,000 chickens have died, about 121,700 trees have been uprooted or damaged.

13 people missing due to the storm

A steel bridge in Vietnam's northern Phu Tho province collapsed on Monday morning, sending 10 automobiles and two motorcycles plunging into the Red River and leaving 13 people missing. According to local media reports, 21 people were killed and missing by a landslide in Cao Bang province. And 15 people suffered the same fate in Lao Cai province.

The most dangerous hurricane ever

According to the ministry, Typhoon Yagi was the strongest storm to hit the northern region of Vietnam in the past 30 years. Yagi, which means goat or the constellation of Capricorn in Japanese, is the eleventh named storm. It is also one of only four Category 5 super typhoons ever recorded in the China Sea, along with Pamela in 1954, Rammasun in 2014, and Rai in 2021.
