Dubai: A Greek oil tanker was attacked in the Red Sea on Wednesday. The attack caused a fire in the tanker but there were no casualties. The crew has abandoned the tanker after the attack caused a fire. Yemen's Houthi rebels are suspected of this attack. This is the most damaging attack in the Red Sea in recent weeks.

The attackers fired at the tanker from close range

In this attack, the attackers who came on a boat fired on the tanker from close range. This firing caused the tanker to catch fire. Shortly after this, four drones or missiles hit the tanker. This caused a fire in the tanker and the crew was forced to leave the tanker to save their lives.

This attack took place in the sea 140 kilometers away from Yemen's port city Hodeida. Greece's Shipping Ministry has named the tanker as Sounion. It had a crew of 25 people and was going from Iraq to Cyprus. The sea route on which this attack took place is one of the major routes in the world.
