Maiduguri: Boko Haram terrorists have killed more than 100 people in an attack in northeastern Nigeria. Local residents claimed on Wednesday that the terrorists opened fire on the market, worshippers and people's homes.
Yobe police spokesman Dungus Abdul Kareem said more than 50 militants on Sunday evening entered the Tarmuwa council area of Yobe state on motorcycles and opened fire before setting buildings on fire. Yobe Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana put the death toll in the attack at 34.
Community leader Jana Umar said the 34 people the deputy governor mentioned as killed in the attack were from the same village. He said so far 102 villagers have been confirmed dead in the attack. He said most of the people were either buried before the authorities arrived or their bodies were taken away for burial.
