Amman/Cairo: After Gaza and Lebanon, Israel has now carried out air strikes on Syria. This information was given by the Syrian government media on Monday. It said that 16 people have died and 36 people have been injured in Israeli air strikes overnight in western Syria. This is Israel's deadliest attack in Syria after the attack on the Iranian embassy complex in Damascus in April. However, Israel has not yet responded.

Syria shot down some missiles

According to the Syrian government news agency SANA, Israel carried out an airstrike on Sunday at around 11:20 pm. It targeted several military sites in the central region. However, Syria shot down some missiles. 36 people were injured in the attack. Six of them are in critical condition. Two intelligence sources said that the military research center located near Masyaf in Hama province near the Mediterranean coast was attacked several times.

Syria condemned the attack

It is a major center for chemical weapons production. It is believed to be home to a team of Iranian military experts involved in weapons production. However, a senior regional military source close to Damascus and Tehran has denied this. The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the attack.

Iran also reacted to the attack

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said Tehran strongly condemns the criminal attack in Syria. "We do not confirm reports by media outlets affiliated with the Zionist regime (Israel) about an attack on an Iranian centre or any centre under the protection of Iran," he said.
