Dubai: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday that Iran will not remain silent in the face of aggression, amid fears of escalation of regional conflict following the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week.
Pezeshkian told Macron in a phone call that if the US and Western countries really want to stop the war in the region, they must force Israel to stop the massacres and attacks in Gaza and accept a ceasefire.
Emergency meeting of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Saudi Arabia
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation was holding an emergency meeting in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday at Iran's request to discuss the killing of Palestinian militant group Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. Tehran and groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah have accused Israel of killing Haniyeh on July 31. Haniyeh's death was one of a series of assassinations of senior Hamas leaders during the war.
Israeli officials have not claimed responsibility for Haniya's death. Meanwhile, acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani said on Wednesday that Iran's response to the killing of Hamas leader Haniya in Tehran would be timely and massive.
Iran warns airlines around the world
Iran has advised airlines around the world to avoid flying over Iranian airspace due to military exercises, Al Qahera News TV quoted an Egyptian official source as saying on Wednesday.
