Jerusalem: The Palestinian organization Hamas received shocking news for the second consecutive day on Thursday. The latest news is the killing of 59-year-old Muhammad Daif, the head of Hamas' military wing in the Gaza Strip.

Daif had plotted to attack Israel.

Daif was the person who, along with Yahya Sinwar, plotted the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and played a key role in executing it. 1,200 Israelis were killed in that attack, and after that, Israel declared war in Gaza. So far, about 40 thousand Palestinians have been killed in this war.

The Israeli army said that Daif was killed in an airstrike in Khan Younis city of Gaza on July 13. On Wednesday, Hamas supreme leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a missile attack in Iran's capital Tehran. Israel has not taken responsibility for this attack, but it is suspected.

Hamas did not comment.

Hamas has not yet commented on the killing of Muhammad Daif. Daif was the commander of Hamas' military wing, under whose supervision a network of underground tunnels was built in the Gaza Strip over the past 30 years and fighters were trained to make deadly bombs.

Daif was on Israel's hit list

Israel had been looking for Muhammad Daif for decades for several incidents of attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers. He was on Israel's hit list for decades. It is said that attempts were made to kill him several times in the past but he always escaped.

was born in a refugee camp in Gaza

The Israeli military said the information was being made public once Deif's death was confirmed. Muhammad Deif was among more than 90 people killed in an airstrike on July 13 in Khan Younis, Gaza's second-largest city.

Daif's full name was Muhammad Diyab al-Masri and he was born in a refugee camp in Gaza, but after becoming a member of Hamas he spent much of his life in the tunnels.

On Tuesday, a day before Haniya's death, Israel killed Fuad Shukar, a senior commander of the armed organization Hezbollah, in Lebanon's capital Beirut. There is talk of another senior Hezbollah commander Abu Nimah Naser being killed on Wednesday. Iran-backed Hezbollah has been attacking Israel since October 8, 2023 in support of Hamas.
