The convention hall reverberated with 'Om Shanti Shanti'

The third day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago was also special because it began with a Hindu priest reciting Vedic mantras. As soon as the convention began, the entire hall echoed with slogans of "Om Shanti Shanti". Priest Rakesh Bhatt of the Shiv Vishnu Temple in Maryland recited Vedic prayers seeking blessings for a united country.
