News Topical, Digital Desk : Bangladesh police have arrested a woman in connection with the murderous attack on National Citizen Party leader Mohammad Motallab Sikder. The woman has been identified as Tanima (Tanvi). She is said to be the joint member secretary of the Khulna district branch of the NCP's youth wing, "Jubo Shakti."
Meanwhile, the party held a protest rally on Tuesday over the failure to arrest the accused in the murder of Usman Hadi, another student leader and convener of the Inquilab Manch. Several prominent leaders, including UN chief Antonio Guterres, strongly condemned the mob lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das and called for ensuring the safety of minorities.
CR Abrar, advisor to the country's Ministry of Education, met with the victim's family, expressing condolences and assuring them of all possible support. In the case of NCP leader Sikdar, police claim he was shot at Tanima's rented home in Khulna. Police found blood and a bullet casing inside the house. Sikdar is undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH). His condition is reported to be out of danger.

KMCH Superintendent Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman said the bullet struck him near his left ear. Police have ruled the attack a domestic dispute. Sikdar had previously told police that he was shot by assailants on a motorcycle. An investigation is underway to determine who fired the shot.
Inquilab Manch steps up pressure in Hadi case Inquilab Manch organized a protest rally in the capital on Tuesday demanding the arrest of those accused in the murder of student leader Osman Hadi. Hadi founded the organization and was its coordinator. Inquilab Manch demanded that Hadi's killers be punished before national elections and a referendum.

Osman Hadi was shot in the head by bike-borne assailants on December 12th. Hadi died on December 16th while undergoing treatment in Singapore. This sparked violent protests, violence, and vandalism across the country. Bangladesh's legal advisor, Asif Nazrul, stated that Hadi's case will be tried in a speedy trial tribunal.
He wrote in a Facebook post that a decision would be ensured within 90 days. Home Ministry advisor Lieutenant General (retired) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said efforts were being made to arrest the main accused, Faisal Karim Masood. He added that the case was a top priority for the government.
ICT frames charges against Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday framed charges against 17 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the case of enforced disappearance of opponents during the Awami League regime.
The three-member tribunal read out four charges against the accused, including Sheikh Hasina's former defence and security adviser, Major General Tariq Ahmed Siddiqui (retired), and 11 military officers, the Daily Star reported.
Ensure the safety of minorities
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over the recent increase in attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and called for ensuring the safety of communities. In a statement, Guterres said all Bangladeshi citizens should feel safe.

Meanwhile, Canadian Conservative Party MP Shiv Majumdar strongly condemned the mob lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das, saying that this incident will be recorded as a dark chapter in Bangladesh's history.
