News Topical, Digital Desk : Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States issued a warning to airlines on Friday, January 16. They advised caution due to military activity in the airspace of Mexico and Central America. This advisory is for the next 60 days.
The US issued this warning after US special forces attacked Venezuela on January 3 and arrested President Nicolas Maduro on drug trafficking charges.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack drug cartels in Mexico after attacking Venezuela. The US has been planning a ground offensive against these gangs for some time.
America issued advisory
"The FAA has issued a flight advisory to pilots for designated maritime flight areas over Mexico, Central America, Panama, Bogota, Guayaquil and Mazatlan, and airspace over the eastern Pacific Ocean," a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson said.
Will the US attack Mexico?
US President Donald Trump has also indicated that he plans to launch a ground attack on drug cartels in Mexico, which would be a provocative military action against America's neighbour and major trading partner.
"Now we're going to start a ground operation against the cartels. The cartels rule Mexico," Trump said last week on Fox News.
