News Topical, Digital Desk : Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to the White House has created a flurry of activity. While he was in the Oval Office, families of those killed in the 9/11 attacks shouted in anger outside.

Twenty-three years after the tragedy, the wounds remain fresh. Victims' families are furious at the prince's presence and are demanding accountability, with Salman claiming that the 9/11 attacks were a plot by Osama bin Laden to sabotage the US-Saudi relationship.

The prince's statement came during a press conference with US President Donald Trump. The two leaders announced a civilian nuclear deal and the sale of F-35 fighter jets. However, reporters grilled the prince on 9/11 and the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

'Obin Laden used Saudis'

Mohammed bin Salman clearly stated, "Osama bin Laden used Saudi people in the 9/11 attacks to permanently break the relationship between the US and Saudi Arabia. This was his aim. Those who even today hold Saudi Arabia responsible for this attack are unknowingly carrying out Laden's work."

He further said, "My wife and my family also live in America, and we feel the pain of those families. But we have to look at the reality. CIA documents also say that bin Laden was deliberately using Saudi citizens to distance the two countries from each other. Bin Laden knew very well that a strong US-Saudi relationship poses a threat to terrorism and extremism."

'We won't let this happen again'

Prince Salman assured that Saudi Arabia is now making every effort to prevent a similar incident from happening again. He said, "We do not want bin Laden's intentions to be fulfilled. We want to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries."

Meanwhile, families of 9/11 victims protesting outside chanted slogans. They held signs reading, "Justice is needed," and "Saudi must answer." Many families believe Saudi Arabia played an indirect role in the attacks and that the full truth has not been revealed to this day.

Questions also arose on the murder of journalist Khashoggi

The issue of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi also came up at the press conference. Khashoggi was brutally murdered in the Saudi Embassy in 2018. US intelligence agencies have stated that the Crown Prince himself was behind the murder. However, Mohammed bin Salman has consistently denied this allegation.

This time too, he made no new statement, saying only that we should move forward without dwelling on past issues. However, the victims' families and human rights organizations are still demanding a direct answer from him.
