
News Topical, Digital Desk : Veteran actress Sangeeta Bijlani, a former Miss Universe, was burgled at her home earlier this year. The actress is still recovering from the trauma of the burglary. The actress attended an awards ceremony in Pune on Saturday, where she spoke to the media and said she has requested a police officer to investigate the case and expedite it.
Sangeeta has been living in that house for 20 years.
Talking about the robbery at her house in Pawana, the actress said, “I have met Pune SP Sandeep Singh Gill. I came to Pune specifically to meet him to request him to expedite the action being taken after the robbery at my house. As a woman, I feel very unsafe in my own house, which has been my home for the last 20 years.”
A total of Rs 57,000 was stolen from Sangeeta's house, including a TV worth Rs 7,000 and cash worth Rs 50,000.
Complaint lodged at the police station
The actress's bungalow is located in the Tikona Peth area of Pune district. A case was registered at the Lonavala Rural Police Station. Police previously stated that the complainant is a personal employee of Sangeeta Bijlani. The bungalow had been vacant for four months. The theft was discovered on July 18 when Sangeeta Bijlani arrived at her bungalow around 9:30 a.m.
What was stolen?
The thieves entered the premises from the rear of the bungalow and stole the TV and cash kept on the first floor. The culprit is still at large. Speaking of the former actress, the 65-year-old star began modeling at the age of 16. She subsequently appeared in several commercials. In 1980, she was crowned Miss India Universe. She represented India at the Miss Universe pageant in Seoul, South Korea, where she won the Best National Costume award, designed by her mother, Poonam Bijlani.
