News Topical, Digital Desk : Smriti Irani has been shooting for Ekta Kapoor's serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for some time now. Meanwhile, news surfaced that Smriti Irani was shooting under Z-plus security. Now, Smriti Irani has reacted to this matter. Smriti called it false news.
In an interview with Mashable, she explained how the news initially surprised her. Irani said, “When the news broke that I would be shooting under tight security under Z Security, I was really surprised. I laughed out loud.”

She recounted a funny incident on set when the Mashable team came to interview her. She further said, "The umbrella man suddenly came to me with an umbrella. Apparently, the production team felt it was necessary to show off some pomp and show. I was like, 'What is going on? This has never happened to me before.'" Just before the first episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 aired, a May 2025 report by India Forums claimed that the actress had Z-plus security on set.
What was claimed earlier?
A source told the portal that mobile phones will be tapped as part of security protocols on the set. The report quoted the source as saying, “Mobile phones of everyone on the set, except Amar (Upadhyay) sir, Smriti ma'am, and Ekta Kapoor ma'am, will be tapped. Everyone will be barred from using their mobile phones. Smriti is shooting with Z-plus security, and everyone on the set will have to follow strict security protocols.”
Smriti Irani's film career
Smriti Irani began her career with "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." The show premiered in 2000 and ended in 2008. The show's second season began on July 29. In 2003, she joined the BJP as a worker, marking the beginning of her political career. From 2014 to 2016, she served as the Union Minister of Human Resource Development. She later became the Union Minister of Textiles from 2016 to 2021.
