News Topical, Digital Desk : A major case has surfaced in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, regarding the removal of names from the voter list. Bhanvi Kumari Singh, wife of Raghuraj Pratap Singh, MLA from Kunda in the district and leader of the Jansatta Dal Loktantrik, has made this claim. However, the Election Commission has responded to her claim
In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , Bhanavi Kumari alleged that her name and that of her two daughters, Raghavi Kumari and Vijay Rajeshwari Kumari, were deliberately removed from the voter list under duress. Bhanavi Kumari stated in the letter that the Chief Minister had publicly assured that no eligible citizen would have their names removed from the voter list, yet this was done to her family.
Raja Bhaiya's wife also provided three pieces of evidence in a post on the social media site X that her and her daughters' names were on the previous voter list. She posted a screenshot of the Panchayat electoral roll, claiming that her name appears on the 2003 voter list, but is not on the most recent voter list.
Raja Bhaiya's wife wrote- I am the daughter-in-law of the Bhadri Benti family.
According to Bhanavi Kumari, her name was duly registered in the 2003 voter list and also in the 2025 voter list. Despite this, her name and that of her daughters were removed from the voter list without prior notice and without providing an opportunity to file an objection. The letter alleges that this process lacked transparency and proper verification.
Raja Bhaiya's wife wrote in the letter that she is the daughter-in-law of the Bhadri Benti family, and her husband is Raghuraj Pratap Singh. Despite the family dispute, her and her daughters' social, legal, and family residence remains Benti, Kunda-Pratapgarh. She and her daughters have been permanent residents and voters here for a long time. Despite this, an attempt has been made to take away their democratic rights.
