News Topical, Digital Desk : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted a major operation, actively participating in Interpol's global operation, "Operation HAECHI-VI." The operation aimed to curb cyber-based financial crimes and online fraud. The CBI worked in collaboration with the FBI (USA), the US Department of Justice, and German authorities. 

What action was taken?

During this operation, the CBI arrested eight cybercriminals and identified 45 suspects involved in international online fraud and pornographic activities involving minor girls. The CBI team recovered approximately US$66,340 (approximately ₹55 lakh) in cash from these criminals and froze 30 bank accounts.

The accused used to scare minor girls of America

Based on information received from the FBI, the CBI arrested two criminals who targeted and threatened minor American girls on social media, demanding obscene images and videos from them. Meanwhile, the CBI also raided fake tech support call centers in Delhi and Amritsar that were defrauding American citizens under the guise of providing technical support.

Another fake call centre busted in Siliguri

Meanwhile, based on information received from German authorities, another fake call center was busted in Siliguri (Darjeeling) that was involved in defrauding German citizens online. According to the CBI, such cyber gangs pose a significant threat to public security both domestically and abroad. This action, conducted in collaboration with Interpol and other foreign agencies, has dismantled several major international cybercrime networks.
