Kolkata: Amidst the rape and murder case of a postgraduate female trainee doctor of Kolkata, former Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Hospital, Dr. Akhtar Ali has made several serious allegations of financial irregularities against the former Principal of the hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh. He has alleged that the former Principal used to deal in unclaimed bodies. Apart from this, he was involved in many immoral activities.

Dr. Akhtar Ali on Wednesday approached the Calcutta High Court seeking an ED probe into alleged financial irregularities. Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj allowed the petition to be filed.

Former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Akhtar Ali, is the first complainant against these financial irregularities. Dr Ali claimed that Sandeep Ghosh used to sell biomedical waste to those who were part of his additional security. Later it was sent to Bangladesh. Apart from this, he used to take 20 percent commission in every tender. Sandeep Ghosh used to deliberately fail students in the examination, then take money from them to make them pass.

When complaint was made, he was transferred:

Akhtar Ali claimed that he had informed the State Vigilance Commission about the alleged illegal activities of Sandip Ghosh. He was part of the investigation panel that found Sandip Ghosh guilty. However, he was transferred the same day he submitted the investigation report to the state health department.

Let us tell you that after the state government formed a four-member special investigation team to investigate the financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College, an FIR has been lodged against Dr. Sandeep Ghosh at Taltala Police Station in Kolkata.

Demand protection for his family as well

This FIR has been lodged more than a year after Dr Ali filed a complaint in March 2023 alleging gross financial irregularities in the hospital. However, Akhtar Ali says that the state SIT will not work impartially. Rather, this special investigation team has been formed to save Sandeep Ghosh. He also demanded protection for his family.
