News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump is currently worried about his own tariffs. The Supreme Court's decision on Trump's tariffs is pending, but if the decision doesn't come in the US government's favor, the Trump administration could face significant losses.
Donald Trump is terrified
US President Donald Trump wrote in a post on the social media platform Truth Social on Monday, January 12, ‘If the Supreme Court rules that America does not have the right to impose such high tariffs, then the condition of our country will become very bad.’
Trump further said, "The government will have a hard time paying back the money already collected. Paying the tariffs will create a huge mess and, given the widespread economic impact, could cost hundreds of billions of dollars or even trillions of dollars."
Will Trump's own tariffs prove costly?
The US president has been constantly trying to pressure the court with such posts. Trump's unilateral tariff powers have been challenged in court, and the Supreme Court is still considering them.
"We may not have a judgment in our favor. But if we do, it will be such a large sum that it will take years to figure out when, where, and to whom we will have to pay what," Trump wrote before the court's decision.
Donald Trump further wrote in his post, "The actual amount we will have to pay will be several hundred billion dollars. We will have to repay this not by giving other countries money, but by investing there and building many plants or opening factories."
