News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has openly threatened Greenland. He said Greenland will pay a heavy price for choosing Denmark over the United States. Trump's statement came after Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen held a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and promised to stand with Denmark.

Greenland chose to support Denmark

US President Donald Trump has been repeatedly threatening Greenland. Meanwhile, Greenland has categorically refused to join the US. An official statement from Greenland stated that the Arctic region would prefer to remain in a union with Denmark.

"We are facing a geopolitical crisis right now, and if we had to choose between the United States and Denmark, we would choose Denmark. We would choose the Greenland we know today, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark," Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, said.

This joint press conference by the Prime Ministers of both Greenland and Denmark was aimed at defusing the US administration's threats towards Greenland and improving the strained relations with Denmark over the strategic island.
