News Topical, Digital Desk : The Central Election Commission will issue show cause notices to the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for failing to upload documents of a large number of voters online under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bengal.
According to an official, nearly 115,000 documents have still not been uploaded, four days after the hearing concluded. Sources within the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) claim that 120 EROs and 150 AEROs have been found guilty.
The Commission had clearly instructed all EROs and AEROs that if an application is rejected, the specific reason should be clearly stated. However, allegations have surfaced that this rule has been violated in several cases.
Let us tell you that earlier the Commission had taken action against two EROs, nine AEROs, one data-entry operator and three micro-observers.
Following the Supreme Court's clear directive, preparations have accelerated in Bengal to publish the final voter list on February 28.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar spoke with Bengal's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal over the phone to inquire about the situation regarding the deadline.
According to sources, the CEO has assured them that the final list will be released on February 28. An additional list may be published later for voters whose names are missing.
